The HY-T Wedge Torque Team 3V profile V-belt has a 1.875” total top width, 5 ribs, envelope construction, is built by Goodyear Engineered Products with Vytacord tension members, and is suitable for industrial applications where mechanical or environmental abuse is a factor. The belt is commonly used for pulsating loads, vibrating drives, and long-center applications. The belt has 5 individual ribs, each measuring 0.375” wide at the top; they are banded together by fabric to increase flexibility and heat dissipation. The belt is static conductive, making it appropriate in the presence of explosive gases, liquids, powders, and other substances where the possibility of static sparks must be kept to a minimum.
The HY-T Wedge belt’s narrow design allows the use of smaller or fewer belts than classical V-belts to transmit an equivalent load, maximizing power transmission efficiency by reducing drive weight and size. It is built with Vytacord tension members, a synthetic reinforcement that increases overall tensile strength and lends dimensional stability so that drive performance is more consistent and predictable over the life of the belt. The belt is enveloped in a strengthening material during manufacturing. The envelope material used in this belt is made of a synthetic rubber compound, adding the strength necessary for belts to withstand high loading forces. It can also tolerate slippage, making it useful in pulsating, high-tension drives or those that are frequently stopped and re-started. The belt is backed in oil-and abrasion-resistant fabric, providing longitudinal flexibility and lateral strength to the joined belt. The fabric bonds to the V-sections to maintain the singularity of the belt.
